If you haven’t heard the song “Figure It Out” yet, stop reading, scroll down to the end of this post, and do yourself a favor (we’ve included the music video for your listening and viewing pleasure). Whether you’re into rock and roll or Ellie Goulding, you can’t deny that infectious bass. It’s rock that sounds like rock, and we dig it.

Along with bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, British rock band Royal Blood is helping garage rock/hard rock make a significant reentry into the music scene, which is currently dominated by watered-down alternative. With “Figure It Out” making #1 on the UK charts, we’re excited to see more rock infiltrating our airwaves and gaining due recognition.

Frontman Mike Kerr’s deft bass playing (yes, that’s all bass – no guitar in this song, just bass with special effects applied), complements his great style. At shows, Kerr typically goes black on black on black, pairing black t-shirt and jeans with a black leather jacket. It’s Americana with a subculture kick.

The defining touch, however, is Kerr’s loose – some would say floppy – quiff. Typically parted to the right, his quiff is minimally doused with product to allow his natural curls to hang loose at the ends. It’s a simple yet put-together style that most guys can pull off, and adds an easy edge.

Check out these pictures of Kerr for some hairstyle inspiration, and see our product recommendations below to get the look.
